The long weekend is almost upon us and with some sunshine in the forecast (fingers crossed) it will be a perfect opportunity to get out and take in some of these fun events.

Friday, May 19

The 42nd annual kicks off today at the Luxton Fairgrounds in Langford with the midway open from 3 to 11 p.m. Demonstrations and exhibits from different groups including the Vancouver Island Blacksmith Association are open Saturday to Monday from noon until 6 p.m.

And get ready to rock The Q Centre tonight as hit the floor for their first home game of the 2017 WLA season. On a bid for another Mann Cup, this team is hungry and facing off against the Langley Thunder at 7:30 p.m. ItB次元官网网址檒l be a game you wonB次元官网网址檛 want to miss.

Saturday, May 20

The is back for another season at Veterans Memorial Park in Langford. With a long list of farmers and other vendors, thereB次元官网网址檚 something for everyone including gluten-free treats and live entertainment.

And while not taking place on the West Shore, is an event that is sure to strike a chord as proceeds will go to starting a scholarship in honour of fallen West Shore RCMP officer Const. Sarah Beckett. The doors of the Dave Dunnett Community Theatre (at Oak Bay high school), 2121 Cadboro Bay Rd., open at 7 p.m. with the show getting underway at 7:30. Tickets are $30 at the door.

Sunday, May 21

If you havenB次元官网网址檛 made it out to the Luxton Spring Fair, thereB次元官网网址檚 still time. The fair is open from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday and the midway is open from 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Monday, May 22

The 117th annual edition of the is worth the trek downtown with a few surprises in store for those in attendance. The parade is expected to last approximately two-and-a-half hours with 112 entries this year. It gets underway at 9 a.m. and runs the length of Douglas Street from Finlayson to Humboldt streets.
