West Shore residents dig deep for Muscular Dystrophy

All five West Shore fire departments filled their boots over the weekend

West Shore firefighters were out in full force May 28 to 29 in support of the annual Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive.

View Royal Fire Rescue Capt. Troy Mollin said they raised $2,700 on the weekend.

Langford Fire Rescue raised $9,752, including money from hot dog sales. Assistant Chief Chris Aubrey said the department is proud to be a small part of a national fundraising effort. B次元官网网址淲e salute our volunteers and the community for their generosity,B次元官网网址 he said.

Colwood Fire Rescue raised $2,997 through a weekend boot drive and a  fundraising event, said Colwood volunteer firefighter Norm Choo.

B次元官网网址淚 want to thank the benevolent souls in Colwood and the West Shore and our volunteers for their efforts,B次元官网网址 Choo noted.

Highlands Deputy Fire Chief Gregg Fletcher said they raised $976, including $185 through hot dog sales at Western Speedway on Saturday night.

He lauded the efforts of firefighter Jennifer Zado for organizing the fundraiser, as well as all of the volunteer firefighters who participated in the Boot Drive.
