The City of Colwood is looking to crack down on household drug labs. The proposed Nuisance Bylaw allows the municipality to charge property owners for all emergency service personnel and cleanup costs linked to marijuana grow-op or meth labs. It also enables municipal fire and inspection officials to revoke occupancy permits and shut off power and water until the building is free of drug infrastructure. The regulations are expected to become common across most of the West Shore.

The Victoria housing market is poised to see measured growth, with the West Shore leading the way. While house prices have slumped in the U.S. in recent months, sparking fears of an economic slowdown or even a recession, the West Shore remains one of the best places around to find deals, with $379,000 as the average house price.

Kevin Hampton is upset after Langford bylaw enforcement tell him to stop giving his junk away from his Treanor Road home. Hampton suspects one of his neighbours complained about his unsightly yard, but he believes a lot of people like the junk that inhabits the space in front of his home. And, a teenage boy is placed on probation after committing a cell-phone theft. The boy will be tasked with 35 hours of community service after receiving a conditional discharge.

1986

The Esquimalt Lagoon is in danger, say residents, due to a lack of bylaws and regulations. Residents of Ocean Boulevard say the beach and ecosystem of the Lagoon are the victims of motorized vehicles tearing up and down the beach, an abundance of litter often overflowing the few garbage cans, proliferating fast food stands, drinking parties, overnight camping and excessive noise.

A petition has been forwarded to ColwoodB次元官网网址檚 parks committee. B次元官网网址淲e do not wish to see Ocean Boulevard suffer the same disfigurement as the Island Highway fast food strip,B次元官网网址 says the petition.

An investigation is launched into the Colwood RCMP amid assault allegations. Metchosin resident Richard Wesley Bissett visited the detachment on Friday and is alleging that he was assaulted by officers involved in his arrest. Police are proposing a variety of charges against Bissett concerning an incident that happened on Sept. 24.
