The 22nd annual Greater Victoria Bike to Work Week starts Monday (May 30) and runs until June 5. Is your bike tuned up and ready to go?
Organized by the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society, the week is meant to create opportunities to bring active and new riders together with a number of free community events.
These events are purposely placed to encourage participants to explore the cycling infrastructure throughout Greater Victoria, while still acknowledging the regular routes.
For those that have not participated in the event before but are thinking about donning a helmet next week, celebration stations are the BԪַfull-MontyBԪַ of Bike to Work Week fun. They are filled with free food, free drinks, bicycle triage, lots of mingling with fellow cyclists and the opportunity to win prizes. This year organizers say they are working on some changes that are sure to tickle your taste buds.
These stations are set up across the region with a number located on the West Shore. If youBԪַre riding in the area, donBԪַt forget to stop in View Royal at Portage Park on May 30 or Chancellor Park on June 1 between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., in Colwood at Royal Roads University on May 31 between 4 and 6 p.m., and in Langford near the corner of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Goldstream Avenue on June 2 between 4 and 6 p.m.
