WATCH: Royal Bay student chops off locks for cancer

Luke Eilertsen will be donating locks to Wigs for Kids

Luke Eilertsen feels like a new man.

After three years of growing his locks out, the 18-year-old Royal Bay student cut off roughly 16 inches of hair Wednesday afternoon in support of people with cancer. For a $15 donation, students and teacher at the school got to cut off a piece of EilertsenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s hair.

EilertsenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s locks will be donated to Wigs for Kids, an organization at B.C. ChildrenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Hospital in Vancouver that provides wigs to children and teenagers who have lot their hair due to cancer treatment or another serious illness.

In addition, Eilertsen has raised close to $2,400 which will be donated to the cancer agency in Victoria, specifically for family and patient care.

Eilertsen began growing his hair our after his grandpa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer that develops when there is a buildup of abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow.
