The WestShore Centre for Learning and Training is offering summer programs that cater to just about every student and they even offer classes for adults.
The ed2go database offers hundreds of courses for anyone interested in getting ahead or picking up a new skill. Some areas include accounting and finance, business, college readiness, computer applications, design and composition.
B次元官网网址淭he ed2go classes that we offer are great for students and adults who are working and looking to boost their resume or pick up a new skill,B次元官网网址� said Heather Lait, Sooke School District principal of distance learning and adult education.
B次元官网网址淭hereB次元官网网址檚 a lot of flexibility in the program as it is really student-led, so the student gets to set their own schedule. Another bonus is that there is a huge variety of courses that start monthly, so people donB次元官网网址檛 need to wait long to begin.B次元官网网址�
These online course range from $69 to $459. Courses being each month and run for six weeks with two lessons released each week.
Courses can be accessed online at all times and include discussion boards, interactive assignments, quizzes, a final exam and a certificate of completion.
For high school students, there are also a number of options to help them get ahead.
B次元官网网址淭aking classes during part of the summer can really help students get a leg-up for when they return to school in September,B次元官网网址� Lait explained. B次元官网网址淭he great thing about these courses is that students can take advantage of the opportunity to complete a course in five weeks with teacher support four days per week. They take the classes and return to school in September knowing they have brought their grades up or explored another field of study. Students who need more flexibility can take courses online, set their own schedule, access teacher support in our storefront classroom as needed and take up to a year to finish their course.B次元官网网址�
At the Grade 10 level, some of the offerings include science, English, social studies, foundations of math and pre-calculus, workplace math and planning. For Grade 11 students options include biology, physics, chemistry, social studies (world history, First NationB次元官网网址檚 studies), English, science and technology, pre-calculus, foundations of math, apprenticeships and workplace math and family management. Finally, for Grade 12 students, options include physics, biology, chemistry, pre-calculus, English, communications, physical education, foundations of math, social justice, family management, writing, and First Nations studies.
Students enrolled in the fast track distributed learning summer sessions can attend face-to-face sessions with teachers, as well as complete online paper-based assignments each day. Those in-person sessions take place at Belmont Secondary school. The deadline to register is June 29 and fast track distributed learning summer courses run from July 9 to Aug. 9, Monday to Thursday. Spaces are filled on a first come, first served basis and some courses may be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment.
