Save-On stocks the pantry at Jeneece Place

Save-on-Foods donates much-needed supplies for centre that hosts families of sick children on Vancouver Island

Store managers from Save-On-Foods locations around Greater Victoria were on hand to stock the pantry at Jeneece Place on Tuesday.

For the second straight year the Jeneece Place pantry is stocked ahead of the holiday season thanks to the regionB次元官网网址檚 Save-On-Foods grocery stores.

Store managers from local Save-On-Foods locations each brought grocery bags full of family favourites to Jeneece Place on Tuesday, based on the preferences of previous guests, said house manager Christina Peacock.

B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檝e reached a monthly average of 95 per cent occupancy, [needless to say] this food is well received,B次元官网网址 Peacock said. B次元官网网址淚t took a while until we were well enough known that we hit high occupancy. As of now, we have a three-family waiting list, and things like [a pantry full of food] will get used.B次元官网网址

The home inspired by Jeneece Edroff and created to host the families of Vancouver Island sick kids is now approaching its fifth anniversary in January.

Save-On-Foods also donated a stack of gift certificates to their stores so families could pick up their desired items and also partnered with the Victoria Royals junior hockey team for tickets.

B次元官网网址淭he cool thing about the Royals tickets is theyB次元官网网址檙e open-ended so families can use them for whichever game,B次元官网网址 said Roger Junker, store manager of Tillicum Save-On-Foods.

In a little less than five years 1,300 families have stayed at Jeneece Place, some of them returning for a total of more than 1,800 stays.
