If youBԪַve ever wondered how artists develop something into a finished product, Royal Bay secondaryBԪַs varied arts programs are ready to give audiences a glimpse into that process.

The schoolBԪַs second arts and culture night, Interconnections: Celebrating Humanity Through Arts and Culture, happens Wednesday (Feb. 15). The event gives local residents a chance to tour the schoolBԪַs arts-related facilities, from theatre to visual arts and even the art of food, to see how students create art out of an idea.

BԪַItBԪַs a beautiful opportunity to bring together intergenerational folks BԪַ in one place to enjoy a series of rotational events,BԪַ said Regan Rasmussen, the schoolBԪַs visual arts teacher.

Guests will arrive, register and be given a colour-coded name tag before beginning their tour at the corresponding station.

There will also be a hands-on component to many of the activities and Rasmussen hopes that having international students from Japan, Brazil and Germany, among other places, will give the evening a real sense of interconnectedness. BԪַItBԪַs just a really joyful evening,BԪַ she offered.

Melissa Young, the schoolBԪַs theatre director, is excited that the evening will give her students a chance to practice their improvisational skills as they create scenes from scratch for the public.

BԪַIBԪַm hoping that we can show people who are perhaps not familiar with what happens in our classes BԪַ a little bit of insight into what we do and the process of how to create art,BԪַ she said.

Young hopes students from Royal BayBԪַs feeder schools will also join in on the fun and get a glimpse of what the school has to offer when it comes to the arts.

The event is free and takes place from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m.
