A large crowd, from the very young to the old, civilian and military alike, assembled Tuesday in Langford to mark Remembrance Day, 100 years after the start of the First World War.
Veterans, cadets emergency personnel and others marched into Veteran's Memorial park having started their parade from the Prince Edward Branch 91 of the Royal Canadian Legion on Station Road in Langford.
Among those laying wreaths on the cenotaph in Veteran's Memorial Park was Silver Cross Mother, Nancy Mansell. MansellB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s son, Myles, a bombardier with the Canadian army, was killed in Afghanistan in 2006, when the vehicle in which he was riding drove over an improvised explosive device.
The event finished off with many in the crowd pinning their poppies onto the wreaths at the cenotaph.
