Their work promoting sport and physical activity for females, has earned Greater Victoria-based Sport for Life (S4L) an award for Excellence in Health Promotion from the Canadian Medical Association.

Last week S4L was announced as one of more than a dozen national winners of the annual CMA awards, which honour people and groups who have made outstanding contributions to CanadaBԪַs health care system and/or the field of medicine.

Sport for Life was recognized as the organization or individual that has best contributed to improvements in the health and wellness of Canadians. S4L embraces a BԪַsport for allBԪַ approach and, among other goals, is working to minimize the gender gap and encourage females to engage in more physical activity.

Representatives of Sport for Life and the other winners are invited to accept their awards on Aug. 29 in Quebec City at the CMABԪַs 150th annual meeting.
