Glitter, stickers and hearts were in plenty supply at Ruth King Elementary SchoolBԪַs ValentineBԪַs fundraiser.
Gathered together to raise money for a new playground for the school, the Langford students took the opportunity to get crafty, designing ValentineBԪַs cards for residents at the retirement community Jesken Aerie.
BԪַThis initiative aims to spread love and joy among our seniors while fostering meaningful connections between generations,BԪַ said Kelly-Jaymes Beck on behalf of Ruth King Parent Advisory Council (PAC), ahead of the event.
The campaign to create a new accessible playground for the school, featuring equipment children of all abilities can enjoy, has a target of $380,000.
According to Beck, the existing playground was designed for a population of around 250 children, but with 454 students enrolled at the school, space is limited.
Alongside donations, PAC has also applied for grants to help support their vision.
Plans are now underway for the spring craft fair on May 3, featuring over 60 vendors, live music and family entertainment. For more information about registering as a vendor or to volunteer for the event, email: rkcraftfair@gmail.com.
