Metchosin-raised speaker T.J. Watt, a joint founder of the Ancient Forest Alliance, will highlight the Association for the Protection of Rural MetchosinB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s (APRM) annual general meeting at the Community House. All are welcome.

Metchosin Film Night at the Community House features a pair of short films: Ghosts of John Henry (the people, fauna and flora that inhabit lands traversed by highways) and Return to Zanska (a visit to the remote Himalayan kingdom).

July 17 to 21

Art projects and field trips to WittyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Lagoon will feature in this kidsB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ summer camp at New St. MaryB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Church (4125 Metchosin Road). A presentation on how First Nations peoples managed the lands around the lagoon will also give kids a good idea of how to care for their local environment. Call the church (250-474-4119) or Sharleen (250-478-2527) to register.

Ongoing events:

The Metchosin poultry swap continues on the second Sunday of every month until October. For more information, e-mail Theresa Sutton at suttons4@shaw.ca.

Meanwhile, creative rug hooking continues at the Community House on the first and third Tuesdays of the month (10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) Beginners should contract Sheila Stewart at 250-595-6406 or blueheronstudio@telus.net to discuss supplies. No fees. Donation to cover refreshments.
