Lillian Szpak and Matt Sahlstrom earned gold pins for a decade of serving Langford city council.

Staff and council members who hit the decade mark earn long-term service award pins.

Szpak said she knew the pin would come but it was a still a surprise to be honoured with the pin she will wear to council meeting and other special council functions.

Sahlstrom is also pleased to have earned the coveted pin and is proud of Langford.

Not only is he raising his family here, he grew up in the Thetis Heights neighbourhood.

Both were elected in 2002.
