Metchosin resident Violaine Mitchell, who serves as deputy director for vaccine delivery with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will speak about her work in a presentation Thursday (Oct. 16) at the Metchosin Community House.
Mitchell, when not farming at home, operates mainly out of Northern Nigeria focusing on the eradication of polio and improving childrenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s access to lifesaving vaccines for measles, tetanus, hepatitis B and infant meningitis.
The free talk, part of the Metchosin Community AssociationB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s guest speaker program, begins at 7 p.m. and there will be time for questions and socializing afterward. Light refreshments will be served.
