The Maritime Museum invites the public to extend their tribute to Canadian veterans and attend a lecture by naval reservist Rebecca Garnham from the Memory Project on the afternoon of Remembrance Day (Nov. 11). She will speak about CanadaBԪַs involvement in global conflicts and remembering veterans.
Garnham joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves in November 2009 and after completing her training as a maritime surface and sub-surface officer, she served onboard HMCS Glace Bay for two years, and is now posted at HMCS Tecumseh in Calgary.
She was deployed on various operations, including an anti-drug trafficking operation in the Gulf of Mexico, and in the Great Lakes.
BԪַI enjoy speaking about the military and itBԪַs contributions to Canada,BԪַ said Garnham in a release. BԪַMany members of my family have served in the militaryBԪַand so I am fiercely proud of our veterans and their sacrifices.BԪַ
The lecture begins at 1 p.m. and entrance is by donation. Seating is limited. The MuseumBԪַs holiday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
