If you happen to have any history buffs or tea lovers on your holiday shopping list, the City of Colwood has you covered.
ColwoodB次元官网网址檚 heritage commission has a pair of potential Christmas gifts that should have a strong appeal for West Shore residents or anyone with an appreciation for Vancouver Island history.
On sale are copies of Colwood Chronicles by local historian William Silvester, and Colwood Heritage Tea, which is made by Murchies and features packaging depicting Colwood Community Hall, a historical building thatB次元官网网址檚 played an important role in the communityB次元官网网址檚 history for over 100 years.
B次元官网网址淐olwood Community Hall has been the centre of Colwood for over 100 years B次元官网网址 that (hall) has been the nurses station during the war, thatB次元官网网址檚 where people went with their newborn babies,B次元官网网址 said Marcy Lalande, a senior administrative assistant with the City.
B次元官网网址(It) has been a meeting spot for a lot of different events. ItB次元官网网址檚 got a lot of history.B次元官网网址
Lalande added that the WomenB次元官网网址檚 Institute has operated out of the hall since its inception.
Proceeds from the sales of both items will go towards the Colwood Heritage Society, which has hosted events such as the Seaside Festival earlier this fall and is currently preparing for the cityB次元官网网址檚 Heritage Week activities in February.
Tea was previously used in a fundraiser for St. JohnB次元官网网址檚 Church, and after positive feedback and sales from those efforts, it was decided a similar campaign would make for a great Christmas fundraiser as well.
B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 a black tea with sweet honey notes. ItB次元官网网址檚 actually a really nice tea and itB次元官网网址檚 a great little stocking stuffer,B次元官网网址 Lalande said.
SylvesterB次元官网网址檚 book covers the areaB次元官网网址檚 history from First Nations up until incorporation, and promises to have appeal across multiple generations.
Both items are on sale at Colwood City Hall.
