Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site is hosting a Canada Day celebration with a giant cake.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy live music throughout the day and participate in fun activities.

The park opens at 10 a.m. and the day kicks off with military reenactments, crafts, games and booths from local organizations, entertainment by the 5th Regiment of the RCA, and stand-up paddle boarding by the lighthouse.

From 10 to 11 a.m. there will be a tide pool discovery program with the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea and a puppet show at Casemates.

Visitors can get creative in a photo booth at the Canteen, featuring a green screen that allows guests to choose from different historic backdrop scenes, and of course, props to use. The photo booth will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Keep your eye out for Parka, the Beaver, who will be making special appearances throughout the day, but youB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ll have to be quick, he is visiting the grounds between 10:45 and 11 a.m. and 1:45 and 2 p.m.

The opening ceremonies feature the 21 gun salute and will take place between 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. During this time the beach will be closed, but will reopen once the ceremony is over.

From 12:30 to 12:40 p.m. there will be a citizenship reaffirmation ceremony where Canadians will take an oath of citizenship to express their commitment to Canada.

CanadaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s birthday cake will be available for people to enjoy between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Visitors will be able to purchase food all day from the Royal Canadian Legion Brand 91 and food trucks on site, but admission and cake is free. People are invited to bring chairs and blankets to sit on and pack a picnic.

Free shuttle service will be provided from the Juan de Fuca park-and-ride (Ocean Blvd. and Trans Canada Highway) from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m and the park closes at 4:30.
