Last yearBԪַs runner up, Victoria claims the title of bloomingest community as spring 2025 approaches.
The city captured the title with 30,328,028,034 blooms counted and registered by residents over the week of March 5 to 12 in the annual Greater Victoria Flower Count.
Saanich was runner up at 7,962,110,409 and the 2025 Winning School and Bloomingest Classroom went to Ms. MollBԪַs class at Margaret Jenkins Elementary in Victoria.

During the 50th annual Greater Victoria Flower Count, a lighthearted event sponsored and organized by Destination Greater Victoria, residents were encouraged to report flower counts across the region.
Folks counted 44,006,225,366 blooms this year, a jump from the 38 billion blossoms registered last year. Sidney was the bloomingest community in 2024, with more than 17 billion flowers counted and Victoria was runner up at nearly 16 billion.
The event started in the late 1960s led by the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce as a way to draw tourists to the area in winter. In late February, chamber members would visit cities such as Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg, handing out daffodils to the general public, radio stations and newsrooms. In 1976, the event expanded to locals and the Victoria Flower Count was born.
