Big Brothers Big Sisters are calling all bowlers to knock down pins to help lift kids up.

Big Brothers Big Sisters have been hosting the national event for nearly 30 years. This is the second year the Victoria club is participating in Bowl for KidsB次元官网网址� Sake fundraiser.

B次元官网网址淲e have been waiting so long for Victoria to have a bowling alley,B次元官网网址� said Rhonda Brown, executive director.

The two-day event will be at Langford Lanes on April 12 and 14.

The goal is to raise $40,000. Last year a one-day event raised $28,000.

B次元官网网址淭he money is earmarked for matching children with mentors,B次元官网网址� Brown said adding there are more than 100 children in Victoria waiting for mentors.

The organization recently completed a five-year study on children and mentors in the program. Brown cites children who are mentored are less likely to be bullied.

B次元官网网址淭hrough mentoring kids build skills. Girls are four times less likely to be bullied when they are mentored,B次元官网网址� Brown said. B次元官网网址淲e find children need several people in their lives they can go to about anything.B次元官网网址�

This yearB次元官网网址檚 theme is Blast from the Past and all bowlers are asked to come in costume from their favourite decade. Brown plans to dress as a hippy.

Teams are required to raise $375 and individuals $75 for two hours of bowling and pizza.
