There was plenty of exciting racing action on tap at Western Speedway last weekend as the Langford track presented Team Demo Night and a series of regular races.

Bill Gallacher won the 35-lap bombers main event by nearly three seconds ahead of Brad Aumen. The two were well ahead of third and fourth-place finishers Mike Dionne and Sean Whitely, respectively.

Shawn Young captured the flag in the 15-lap demo car main, rolling across the line more than seven seconds ahead of Brandon Young, while Cody Young edged out Aason Baker for third.

The 15-lap claimers main saw Jeff Foley edge Jason Day at the finish line by less than a second. Allana Jacobs was not far back in third, while Daniel David wound up fourth. Sam Lagan rolled to an easy victory in the 40-lap mini figure 8s main, a lap ahead of Daryn Cahill in second and two up on Brandon Young in third.

The Team Demo event was won by Jake Matthews, while Mike Noyce wound up second and Jamie Morgan third.

This Friday and Saturday night sees an all-open wheel competition, as the annual Strawberry Cup races hit the track. The lightning-fast winged sprint cars will be joined by the Wilroc non-winged sprints, as well as the CAMRA vintage modified cars. Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m., with fan fest events at 6 and racing at 6:30 p.m. both nights.
