The Victoria Grizzlies finished the weekend 2-0, beating the Captials 7-2 and the Wild 4-3 in double overtime, giving Victoria an overall record of 29-17-3.

Grizzlies forward Ryan Nolan played his first game back after missing five games due to a hand injury. Nolan came out hot and scored the first goal of SaturdayBԪַs game at 2:07 in the first period.

BԪַIt was awesome to come back after being out,BԪַ Nolan said. BԪַEspecially on the penalty kill. I just got lucky and picked the pass off, shot, and hoped for the best.BԪַ

It was his sixth goal of the season. He hadnBԪַt appeared in any games for two weeks, but he was able to skate and practice, so he kept up his conditioning and his legs felt good, he said.

The game against Cowichan was very physical and saw three Capitals players leave the game with game misconduct and misconduct penalties.

Despite the physical game, Nolan was told by his coaches not to fight. Cowichan hasnBԪַt cracked double-digit wins yet this season.

The other six Grizz goals were scored by Ethan Nother, Cameron Thompson, Jamie Rome, Marty Westhaver, T.J. Friedmann and Justin Michaelian.

Victoria goalie Zachary Rose got the win but had to leave the game due to an injury, and split time with Kurtis Chapman.

The Grizzlies switched gears from a physical game Saturday to a finesse game on Sunday against the Wenatchee Wild.

The Wild got out to a 2-0 lead against the Grizzlies using their speed and skill in the first period. Nolan said Victoria was preparing for a fast team that turns the puck around quickly for odd man rushes.

Rome scored two goals against Wenatchee, his first came in the second period at 8:12 and at 16:00 in the third. Matthew Doran scored at 19:23 in the third to tie the game.

Victoria defenseman Carter Berger scored in double overtime to give Victoria the win. Chapman played all minutes against the Wild.
