Victoria Grizzlies bolster back end with veteran D-man

Victoria Grizzlies will take on Langley Rivermen on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Q Centre.

The Victoria Grizzlies are welcoming new talent this week.   

The team announced Jan. 15 they have signed defencemen Charles Cote from the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Maritimes Junor Hockey League (QMJHL) 

BԪַWe are excited to add a player like Charles with that kind of veteran experience to help bolster our back end,BԪַ said Rylan Ferster, the team's coach and general manager. 

Cote was born in 2004, stands at 6'7", and hails from Laval, Que. He will bring an impressive resume that includes two stints with NHL camps in Calgary and Anaheim and 151 games played in the QMJHL.  

In his three years with Rimouski, he has nine goals, 45 points and 181 penalty minutes. He also brings a BԪַwelcome additionBԪַ of playoff experience with 21 games under his belt. 

His addition comes in the wake of the Grizzlies' announcement Wednesday morning that 20-year-old defencemen Oscar Pantzare would be traded to the Penticton Vees in exchange for future considerations.  

This new-look Grizzlies roster will take the ice Saturday, Jan. 25 against the Langley Rivermen. Following the final buzzer fans are invited to lace up the blades for a free BԪַSkate with the playersBԪַ event.
