A month after he helped Canadian men win a World Cup track cycling silver medal B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ and set a new Canadian record for three minutes, 52.420 seconds in the team pursuit (4,000 metres) B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ VictoriaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Jay Lamoureux nearly helped put Canada on the podium of the World Track Cycling Championships.
Last week both the Canadian menB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s and womenB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s team pursuit foursomes finished fourth at the 2019 Track World Championships in Pruszkow, Poland. It came down to a bronze medal final against the New Zealanders for the Canadian women, and against the Danish for the Canadian men.

While both Canadian pursuit team was relegated to fourth-place finishes, it was still another big step forward as Canada moves closer to the Tokyo Olympics.
For the menB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s squad of Michael Foley, Derek Gee, Adam Jamieson and Lamoureux, making the medal round was a new accomplishment. It built on their already impressive season in which the menB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s team pursuit twice-cracked the Canadian record at the Milton World Cup, Oct. 26 to 28, again in Berlin (3:54.682) on Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, and then again in Cambridge, New Zealand in Jan. 18 to 20 with a time of 3:52.420 - less than three seconds short of world record.
