Declan Forcier travelled across the globe with a handful of goals and heB次元官网网址檚 coming home with a handful of medals.
Forcier, 11, was one of just 46 athletes to compete for Team Canada at the eighth annual World Dwarf Games July 28-Aug. 5 in Cologne, Germany.
B次元官网网址淭he kid had big goals going into todayB次元官网网址檚 track and field event, and he smashed them. Quadruple gold,B次元官网网址 said proud mom Tammy Isaachsen on the day of ForcierB次元官网网址檚 epic four-medal haul.
B次元官网网址淗e placed first in all of his individual events, competing against many strong athletes from Germany, Great Britain, Australia, USA, and more.
Forcier won gold in both the 40m and 60m sprints, as well as gold in the tennis ball and cricket ball throws.
He wasnB次元官网网址檛 done with just the track and field events though.
Forcier also competed with B.C.B次元官网网址檚 volleyball, soccer and basketball teams, earning a silver and two bronze medals, respectively, to round out his medal count at seven.
B次元官网网址淒eclan had a very successful games,B次元官网网址 Isaachsen said. B次元官网网址淚t was an incredible experience for him to compete on a level playing field B次元官网网址 and at eye level B次元官网网址 with kids of similar stature.
Forcier already has his sights set on the next World Dwarf Games in four years in Australia.
B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檙e hoping to do more fundraising and sharing leading up to those games, in an effort to send an even larger Team Canada to those games,B次元官网网址 Isaachsen explained. B次元官网网址淭hereB次元官网网址檚 no government support for the games (which the Dwarf Athletic Association of Canada is hoping to change), so all costs are up to the athletes/families attending and individual fundraising efforts.B次元官网网址
