Dustin Taylor wired a wrist shot past Clan goaltender Graeme Gordon 24 seconds into the first overtime period, giving Victoria a 4-3 win.

The hockey team is made up of former junior players and is recognized as a club under UVicB次元官网网址檚 athletics and recreation umbrella.

Goalie Jason Margolus earned the win in the final, making 14 saves on 17 shots.

UVic entered the tournament as underdogs in the No. 4 seed. They went on to post a 4-0 record, winning two games in shootouts and the championship in an extra frame.

SFU took a 2-0 lead in the first period of the championship game, but UVic bounced back with goals from Taylor and Brent Sutherland, and entered the third period down 3-2. UVic defenceman Doug Evans tied the game with a wrist shot five minutes into the third, and regulation ended with 15 minutes of scoreless, nail-biting hockey.

Then came TaylorB次元官网网址檚 second goal of the game, on the first shift of overtime. UVic has won the BCIHL championship in three of the leagueB次元官网网址檚 first six years.

The tournamentB次元官网网址檚 host team B次元官网网址� Thompson Rivers University WolfPack B次元官网网址� was eliminated after losing twice in round-robin play.
