The Saanich Predators have cancelled their Friday (Jan. 7) home game against the Westshore Wolves and are pausing all team activities until Jan. 9 due to COVID-19.
Predators head coach Cody Carlson said several of his players are awaiting tests and in the meantime, he thought it would be best for the safety of the players and staff to shut down for five days, which began Monday.
B次元官网网址淲e went into our game on Sunday with eight guys sick, then the morning after the game more guys got sick, so I just thought it would be the most responsible thing to do to pause everything,B次元官网网址 Carlson said.
With one positive test and a couple of negatives as of Wednesday, the coach hoped things were getting better, but he remained glad he made the call to pause until the majority are healthy again.
Those who test negative can play in SundayB次元官网网址檚 home game (Jan. 9) against Peninsula Panthers if they have no symptoms. Those who test positive will need to present a negative test to return the ice.
The Predators have eight more games scheduled throughout January and will move forward with public health orders in mind, Carlson said.
