VictoriaB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s high school gymnastics team won nine gold medals at the school gymnastics provincials in Burnaby.
In addition to the nine gold medal placings local athletes won four silver medal placings, and three bronze medal placings.
Among the top finishers in the level four girls artistic was ClaremontB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Rachel Peressini, first in the floor event, third on the balance beam and fifth all-around. Emilie Gosselin (Ecole Victor Brodeur) was second in the floor event and 10th all-around.
In the level 3 boys artistic, Ben Pierce (Ecole Victor Brodeur) took first on the floor, pommel horse, vault, a parallel bars., second on high bar, fourth on rings and first all-Around. Ian Burnett (Claremont) finisehd first on the rings and vault, and second all-around.
Falcon Gymnasts
A group of Falcon Gymnastics athletes have qualified for the Gymnastics B.C. Championships next month in Coquitlam.
The group of gymnasts competed, and qualified, at the Mount Arrowsmith Invitational in Port Alberni.
Valentina Rojas, 12, and Julia Widdowson, 12, won gold and silver, respectively, in the all-around JO6 Flight, qualifying for the provincials. Soleia Ouldali, 12, scored a 36.716 to win the gold all-around for the JO6C flight. Lara Solomons also qualified for the J06 level provincials.
Twelve-year-old Gabriella Tsui won the Junior Olympic level-5. Saanich girls Yenay Verdun, Chantelle Turlock and Giselle Rachert were also awarded wildcard spots for the upcoming championships.
The team is coached by Devin Weber, Stephanie Havers and Renata and Peter Allan.
In the J04 flights
Maile Chow (10) won golds in bars and floor.
Kiera Liebel (9) won gold for all-around.
Jenna Webster (11) won the Silver all-around.
Keira Caillet (12) won the JO4A Silver all-around.
McKenzie Shera 12 won golds in the J03A all-around with a silver on beam for her sister Robyn Shera.
Madison Johnson JO3A had a gold, silver and bronze in floor, vault and beam.
Dawsyn Blaikie won Gold all-around in the JO3C flight.
