Jamel Lyles is not just piling up the yards this B.C. Football Conference season, the Westshore Rebels running back and returns man is collecting awards.
Lyles, in his first season with the Rebels, picked up his third BCFC BC Lions player of the week award, his second straight in the offensive player category. He won the special teams player award after the RebelsB次元官网网址� first game of the season.
Lyles racked up 238 yards rushing with three touchdowns in WestshoreB次元官网网址檚 45-32 win over the Broncos in Kamloops last Saturday. He now has 697 yards in four games, more than 300 better than the next highest rusher in the BCFC, and is averaging 8.5 yards per carry.
HeB次元官网网址檒l take his talents to the Fraser Valley with the rest of the team this weekend, as the second-place Rebels (3-1) head to Chillwack tomorrow to play the Valley Huskers (0-4).
Other weekly individual winners included Okanagan Sun linebacker Layne Hull for top defensive honours in his team,B次元官网网址檚 37-19 win over the Vancouver Island Raiders, and Sun punter/kicker Kealey Heintz, who pushed the Raiders deep multiple times with his kickoffs (49.9-yard average) and punts (36-yard ave.). He was also perfect on converts (4/4) and field goal attempts (35,25, 26 yds.).
The Rebels next home game is Aug. 27 against those same Valley Huskers.
