Nail-biting penalty shootout secures ReynoldsB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ spot at provincials

SaanichB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Reynolds Secondary School won the senior girlsB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ soccer AAA Island championship in dramatic fashion against StellyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s Secondary School on Tuesday (May 16) at Goudy Field in Langford.

After Reynolds player Abby McDonald stole in behind the defence to equalize the game at 2-2 late on, Reynolds won the penalty shoot-out thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Lincoln Miracle, who saved two spot kicks.

Reynolds and StellyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s made it to the final after making it through group play on May 15 and 16.

Now Reynolds will turn its attention to provincials on June 1 to 3 in Kelowna.

StellyB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s may still join them there. The team will have to beat third-place finisher Oak Bay in a challenge match next week for the second berth.
