Despite a heroic effort by sniper Brent Cameron, the Juan de Fuca All Flows menB次元官网网址檚 team saw its soccer season end Sunday in Burnaby.

Contesting their opening round match in the BC Soccer Open B Provincial Cup tournament, Juan de Fuca built a 3-1 halftime lead against a talented Burnaby Selects Eagles side, on three goals by their ace.

The rigors of a long season caught up with the Colwood-based crew in the second half, however, and they surrendered three goals to lose 4-3.

While Juan de Fuca saw some decent scoring chances go by the wayside following the break, Burnaby kept pushing and tied the game with about 10 minutes to go. The winning tally came with just five minutes to play.

B次元官网网址淥ur fitness, or lack thereof, started to show in the second half. A lot of guys were carrying injury and we slowed down significantly,B次元官网网址 said JdF coach Matt Connaroe, who was pressed into field duty with just 11 other players travelling for the match.

Speaking of the quality of the Burnaby team, Connaroe said they would stack up well against Div. 1 teams from the Island league. Playing them as tightly as they did and having a good chance to take the win made for a bittersweet scenario.

B次元官网网址淚t was a tough way to end the season, but weB次元官网网址檒l take it as a learning experience and move on.B次元官网网址

Having won the Division 3A title this season, the All Flows move up to Div. 2 next fall.
