Dominant would be an understatement for how the Chilly Willy bantam lacrosse team rolled through the U.S. Box Lacrosse Nationals in San Jose, Cailfornia last weekend.
Featuring a handful of Juan de Fuca players and co-coached by Brian Spaven, Dennis Law and Gord Hawes, the squad hammered the Penn Lax All-Stars from Philadelphia 9-1 in the bantam A division gold medal game.
Whalers goalie Adam Bland was named most valuable player for the tournament and was selected to the all-star team with Whalers and Chilly Willy teammates Logan Wright and Evan Law. Other Juan de Fuca players in the lineup were Jacob Obee, Riley Hawes and Brodie Wade.
The B.C. team went 4-0 in round robin play, scoring victories over the B.C. Outlaws (14-1), Seattle Starz (11-7), Team Superstar (14-1) and Mad Dog (15-1). Penn Lax Al-Stars went 4-0 to win the other pool.
