Jen Annett's done it again.
Fresh off winning Ultraman Canada in her hometown this past summer, the Penticton triathlete claimed the top spot at the 2024 Ultraman World Championships in Hawaii on Dec. 1.
Annett, 39, is the first woman in history to be the event's overall winner, beating out second-place finisher Michelle Vesterb of Denmark by 21 minutes.
"Never in my life would I have thought I would be saying this," Annett said in an emotional social media post following her victory. "I never would have even made it to the Island if it wasnB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t for the incredible community and supporters that made this possible. I canB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t thank everyone enough."
Annett finished with a time of 23:04:56, following the three-day, 320-mile journey.
The Penticton woman, who celebrated an Ultraman Canada victory in the Peach City in July, was one of 40 athletes from across the globe to make the event.
This month's result marked the first time in event history that two women finished atop the overall leaderboard. Juan Bautista Castilla Arroyo of Spain finished in third with a time of 25:06:16.
Before heading to Hawaii for the iconic end-of-year race, Annett participated in the final Ironman Canada in Penticton.
She finished fifth in the Pro Women Division with a time of 8:13:20. Ironman Canada announced earlier this year it is moving the race to Ottawa, Ont. in 2025.
