A West Shore sporting event happening this week will support an important West Shore initiative.
The ninth annual Quay Classic Golf Tournament takes over Olympic View Golf Club on July 15.
The community fundraiser will raise funds for the Pacific Centre Family Services AssociationB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s new Wellness Centre on Goldstream Avenue, as well as the Saanich Legacy Foundation.
The 18-hole tournament, put on by the Young Entrepreneur Society of Victoria, begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Friday and features surprise prizes at every hole. ItB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ll be followed by a dinner banquet and a fun casino night. Registration costs $150 per person or $500 per foursome.
For more information on the tournament, visit victoriayesgroup.com or email info@victoriayesgroup.com.
For its part, Pacific Centre is in the midst of a $1.5-million capital campaign for the new 14,000-square-foot Wellness Centre, to be constructed behind the current facility in the West Shore Child, Youth and Family Centre on Wale Road.
The goal is to offset building costs and maximize funds available for programming, rather than occupancy.
Executive director Mitzi Dean has said the existing space is growing cramped with the number of services needed in a growing community.
The project includes a connector for the Galloping Goose Trail, and the expectation is that Pacific Centre can move in sometime in 2017.
