Defending volleyball title proves tough for Belmont grads and Chargers

Camosun men place fifth at national volleyball championships

The defending national champion and 2016 PacWest provincial champion Camosun Chargers menB次元官网网址檚 volleyball team completed another successful season, finishing fifth at the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association national volleyball championships earlier this month.

The Chargers, with former Belmont Bulldogs Alex Sadowski and Doug Waterman playing in the middle,  defeated the Mohawk College Mountaineers 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-20) to open the tourney. But they fell 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-11) in a drawn-out semifinal to the Red Deer Kings.

Camosun wound up losing to the Douglas College Royals in the bronze medal game, a rematch of the 2016 PacWest provincial final won by Camosun in five sets.

Chargers setter Vitor Macedo was named a First Team Championship All-Star and Savana Walkingbear earned a Second Team All-Star at nationals.
