Crunch time for West Shore high school volleyball teams

Belmont senior girls third in Vic Lindal Cup play

With November just around the corner, most West Shore high school volleyball teams have their eyes on the playoffs, while some have already begun the post-season.

The Belmont Bulldogs senior girls finished third in the Vic Lindal Cup city playoffs, beating St. Michaels University School 2-1 (25-22, 24-26, 15-13) in an extremely tight bronze medal match Tuesday at Oak Bay.

The South Island AAAA seeding tournament happens Nov. 3 at Vic High, with the top five teams moving on to the Island Championships, being hosted Nov. 20-21 at Belmont.

Meanwhile, the Belmont senior boys, with just one Grade 12 player on the roster, have enjoyed some success of late, moving up to fourth in the AAA league standings entering WednesdayB次元官网网址檚 game day at Spectrum (completed after the GazetteB次元官网网址檚 press deadline).

Royal Bay, also at Spectrum that night, was looking to solidify its third-place position in the AA division heading into next weekB次元官网网址檚 power pool playoff round. The Ravens host the AA South Island tournament Nov. 9, the same day the Bulldogs host the AAA event. Royal bay also hosts the AAA Islands Nov. 20-21.
