The Belmont varsity football team is looking to build momentum off big wins earlier this season.
Head coach Alexis Sanschagrin said the group has had some tough competition right off the bat.
B次元官网网址淲e started the season 3-0,B次元官网网址� Sanschagrin said, with one of those wins coming after beating Vancouver College, who was ranked fifth in the province.
The school has a well-recognized football program but Belmont held on in a tough game for a 25-9 win. It was the first time that a Bulldogs football team has beaten Vancouver College. B次元官网网址淚t was a pretty big high for us,B次元官网网址� Sanschagrin added.
But the following week the team lost to third ranked South Delta, with a final score of 50-20.
Sanschagrin noted at this point in the season, heB次元官网网址檚 pleased with how the team is performing but admits, as with any team, there are always areas for improvement.
B次元官网网址淚B次元官网网址檓 happy but as a coach, you always want more,B次元官网网址� Sanschagrin said. B次元官网网址淭here is always room for improvement and there are a lot of areas we can do better overall. That is just the coach in me that is never completely satisfied but overall itB次元官网网址檚 been a very good start.B次元官网网址�
He would like to see more preparation during the week before games. But added that game day, the team is usually prepared and knows what they need to do.
Sanschagrin also has his sights set on a playoff berth this year.
B次元官网网址淲eB次元官网网址檙e in a position that is certainly difficult,B次元官网网址� he said. B次元官网网址淭welve teams make the playoffs in the province and only six from our conference will make the playoffs, six out of eight. Right now, in the top 10 in the province, all eight teams in our conference are in the top 10. So there will be two teams left out and there is going to be teams that will make it that arenB次元官网网址檛 necessarily ranked as high but our conference is so competitive and so strong that basically every week is a battle for a playoff position. I would say right now, we are in a very good position but we wonB次元官网网址檛 know until the season is done.B次元官网网址�
