Three skaters from the Juan De Fuca Skating Club took to the ice at BC Winter Games held in Vernon from March 23 to 26.

The trio included Ariana Robertson, 15, skating in the pre-novice women category, Alexandra Hargrave, 14, and Avery Lister, 13, both skating in the juvenile women category.

They were part of a group of 10 to travel to the games from the area. They were picked for the team by a selection committee Super Series B.C. and Yukon Section Championships in November B次元官网网址� Lister placed second and was named Vancouver Island champion in the U14 category at the event.

B次元官网网址淚t was nice to have like an extra competition because it pretty much ended our season. It was nice to have one more competition in our old categories before we go to a new one,B次元官网网址� said Hargrave.

The group of 10 travelled via bus together to Vernon, a fun experience that allowed for bonding between skaters from other clubs.

B次元官网网址淲e got to watch everyone and have a team support aspect, even though we all didnB次元官网网址檛 know each other, most of us,B次元官网网址� added Hargrave.

For both Hargrave and Lister it was their first time competing at the Games, but Robertson has been before in the juvenile women category.

There are challenges that come with the competition, being away from family and working with a different coach, but Robertson said it was a good experience. Lister and Hargrave agreed, adding they hope to compete again in a future year.
