LETTER: Sidney working towards a vibrant economy

In the spring of 2014, SidneyBԪַs then-mayor Cross struck a mayorBԪַs downtown revitalization task force and I was appointed vice-chair to Mark DickinsonBԪַs chairman. Mr. Dickinson led a cross-functional team of dedicated citizens, representatives from the chamber of commerce, Sidney BIA, as well as town staff to renew the economic development strategy for Sidney.
LETTER: Compromise would bring people back to Clover Point

LETTER: Compromise would bring people back to Clover Point

Thank you to Couns. Charlayne Thornton-Joe and Marianne Alto for proposing a suitable compromise to the reconfiguration of Clover Point for the benefit of all users. Their proposal sensibly suggests that during the winter storm months, the traffic barriers be removed and vehicle occupants be allowed to park facing west to storm watch in a sheltered environment.

LETTER: Inter-city buses could alleviate highway repair chaos

At the B.C. governmentBԪַs Nov. 28 media conference, Minister of Transportation Rob Fleming was asked if people would be able to travel into the Interior for the holidays on Highway 3, which is only open for freight and essential travel. FlemingBԪַs non-answer did not even include the word BԪַbusBԪַ.

LETTER: Oak Bay suites should be limited to owner-occupied homes

As a retired realtor of 40 years, I would beg to differ with Couns. Ney, Appleton, and Green about legalizing secondary suites in single-family homes. They feel that it shouldnBԪַt matter whether the home is owner-occupied or has two separate renters.

LETTER: CRD tactic goes from saving to borrowing

Buried away in the 1,731-page Oct. 27 CRD committee-of-the-hole report (and I did not misspell that) is a link to another report from the regional parks committee with this recommendation: BԪַThe Regional Parks Committee recommends the Committee of the Whole recommend to the Capital Regional District Board that the annual land acquisition levy be used to implement a debt financing strategy for future land acquisitions.BԪַ
