Trips to U.S. needless given what Canada has to offer

Travelling to the U.S. only helps their economy, not ours, reader writes

Re: (Gazette, March 3)

IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m wondering why our kids are going to the U.S. in the first place. We live in an amazing and huge country. Is there really nothing in B.C. or Alberta that students from our districts could see? Natural hot springs, old growth forests, Stanley Park, museums B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·¦ the list goes on.

Why on earth would we spend money in the American economy, and not support our own? And thatB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s before any consideration of the students who might be singled out for questioning by the Americans.

Are we really going to support a system of governance that singles out Muslims? Why? What could possibly be so important in the U.S. that our students should go there in light of the treatment that our fellow humans experience at that border?
