Road improvements needed with bike lanes

An increase in cars on the road leaves little room for others

Re: Temporary roadblock for trail project (Gazette, Feb. 24).

I am curious to know how the CRD plans to put a dual lane bike path along the section indicated in the Gazette. There hardly seems to be enough room for two cars to pass each other, much less a path of any sort.

Anybody who cares to look can see a well-worn trail alarmingly close to the road where people currently walk. With the tendency towards homeowners having multiple vehicles, including recreational vehicles, as well as many homes now incorporating suites, there are more vehicles than driveways can accommodate.

This has lead to the roadsides becoming clogged with more and more vehicles. I hardly feel comfortable letting my children ride their bikes or walk the dog, much less navigating an already over-crowded street on which people speed along at what appears to be far above the posted 30km/h speed limit.

I look forward to a connection between the E&N Rail Trail and the Galloping Goose. It will be great to have a safe way for people to travel around the West Shore. Perhaps the city can also find time and money to look into improving that small section of the road.
