LETTER: Separated bike lanes driving cyclists from Saanich roads

If you are nervous about cycling alongside traffic, then don't do it

A concrete barrier separates a bike lane from car traffic on Tillicum Road in Saanich. (District of Saanich/Twitter)

I avoid cycling in bike lanes that have barriers as I do not feel safe with the lack of wiggle-room on either side of me.

I have not owned a vehicle for 20 years and bike and walk everywhere. I now avoid riding in dedicated bike paths with barriers. The city could have saved the taxpayers massive amounts of money by only painting lines. Just like nervous/bad drivers, if you are nervous about cycling alongside traffic, then don't do it B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ you are a danger to others.
