LETTER: Saanich taxpayers can't catch a break

Instead of alternate approval project, Saanich should consider cutting back on unnecessary spending

Saanich Municipal Hall.

It's simply stated on the Saanich AAP website that if taxpayers defeat the borrowing of the proposed alternative approval process projects (10023,10024,10025,10026,10027) then the district must finance those projects at a proposed cost to taxpayers of a 5.25% property tax increase.

Alternately, if Saanich goes to referendum on these projects, the cost of the referendum would be borne by taxpayers. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. Nice democracy we live in. Hey Saanich, novel idea B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ why don't you cut back on unneeded projects like $3 million on more bike lanes in Saanich that are hardly used and make it unsafe for drivers? (Note: I am not against needed infrastructure to maintain our neighbourhoods, but not for more development).
