A walk in Goldstream Park through the giant trees, moss and lichen on a misty day is a beautiful experience.
With the cycle of the seasons returning, a sense of peace is restored. However, this year the salmon run there may be disrupted by plans for highway expansion at the turnoff to the park.
A concrete bridge-like structure along the riverbank is proposed which may cause erosion, along with the removal of 600 to 800 trees. Please contact the minister of highways about this.
A vigil to save the salmon is being held every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon with First Nations representation, welcoming support.
The Nature House is open at 9 a.m. (closed Tuesday and Wednesday) and will resume daily full time when the chum salmon return soon to spawn.
