LETTER: Oak Bay traffic changes aim to cause congestion

The realignment of the Cadboro Bay Road and Thompson intersection makes no sense

Cadboro Bay Road and Thompson Avenue intersection.

Can anybody explain to me and many others the logic behind the realignment of the Cadboro Bay Road and Thompson Avenue intersection? Now every vehicle leaving Thompson will have to stop. Before this, there was a curve onto Cadboro Bay which did have a stop sign but did nor affect vehicles turning left.

The same illogical reasoning applies to the Bowker-Cadboro Bay Road interchange. Turning right onto Bowker almost necessitates a full stop because of the reverse angle of Cadboro Bay. As to Thompson, the new sidewalks are impressive but how often have previous ones been used?

It seems to me that there is somebody in most municipalities across the CRD who dislikes vehicles and wants to impede their movement. At least in Toronto, it has been recognized that bike lanes are detrimental to vehicle flow and they are removing them from major streets downtown.
