LETTER: Investment in natural resources can boost B.C. economy

Our resources will save our health care, education and social services, and prevent our talented youth from moving out of country

What a pleasure it is to see major ads in local papers extolling the global value of our LNG exports, and the completion of the Trans Mountain pipeline shipping Canadian oil to countries around the world. These are investments that all Canadians should applaud.

It is unfortunate that many Canadians, including, unfortunately, senior politicians at the federal, provincial and even municipal level, do not appreciate the gift that our natural resources can bring to this country.

The U.S., now the largest exporter of both LNG and oil in the world, understands how important investing in their natural resources is to their economy. Amongst the G20 countries, Canada is now at the bottom of the list in terms of economic investment and development.  Little wonder many of our young are heading east.

There are countries pleading for access to our LNG, and all they get from our environment minister (a former senior official with Greenpeace) and our social activist prime minister, are promises of hydrogen power from plants that do not even exist.

They do not understand that the export of our resources will save our health care, education and social services, and prevent our talented youth from moving out of country in order to obtain the employment they need to survive in a very expensive world.

And all the while Canada's emissions remain at 2.5% of world emissions while B.C.'s are a mere 10% of that amount, and going down.
