LETTER: Government needs to keep an eye on airline spending

Any company that receives any government money in the future needs to be audited

I would like to bring attention to the federal government selling its stake in Air Canada. In my opinion, we need to keep an eye on this since they get bailed out on a regular basis.

I feel we need serious government oversight to watch how the airlines spend their money and handle their business. They get bailed out from the government so often that maybe there needs to be an honest conversation that the airline models are just not profitable. With this, though, there also needs to be a serious overhaul of the bonus payment structure in Canada.

I would love to see it abolished entirely. Any company that receives any government money in the future needs to be audited, and if there were bonuses paid to CEOs, they should no longer qualify for government financial assistance.
