A poem written by John Dumbeck, a former Second World War bomber pilot, was read at the 2024 ceremony by PO1 (Ret'd) Hedley Cullen.

As a retired service member, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the editor and staff for the excellent Nov. 6 edition of the Gazette. With the well-written articles, supported by many local advertisers, the edition was absolutely first class.

I served for 35 years in the Canadian Forces/RCAF during the Cold War, across Canada, in England and Germany. Consequently, I am most gratified to see such warm appreciation in your West Shore publication for those who have served our country in the  Canadian Forces, and especially, for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

We shall remember them.

R. Murray Ramsbottom

Brigadier General (RetB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™d) RCAF
