Mr. Lucas omitted a key phrase in his letter 'Petition aims to keep toxic chemicals out of Greater Victoria environment,' that is found only in the petition: CRD should pursue "...waste-to-energy strategies...like gasification..."
That means deposit the biosolids' toxins into our lungs instead of the landfill. This inevitably means more South Island cancer and brain diseases like Parkinson's. That's why the biosolids-gasification fantasy hasn't been pursued anywhere else in North America.
The only solution is the visionary and courageous strategy that holds the province and Ottawa accountable B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ keep the poisons out of the biosolids in the first place. Make them pay to store the current biosolids in a seepage-free place. They already do that with nuclear power plant waste.
With your GVPL library card, free-stream a film about this called Living Downstream (trailer on YouTube/full film on Hoopla).
Email me at freeusall@proton.me to encourage the CRD to make that option happen.
