LETTER: Accessing Pat Bay Highway bus stops can be a challenge

The Canora Road bus stop in North Saanich is not the only bus stop on the Saanich Peninsula that needs upgrading. On each side of Island View Road on the west side of Patricia Bay Highway is a bus stop for the #72 bus.

The bus stop on Canora Road is unpaved and does not leave room for commuters to avoid private vehicles and buses who drive in to pick up or drop off passengers.

The Canora Road bus stop in North Saanich is not the only bus stop on the Saanich Peninsula that needs upgrading.

On each side of Island View Road on the west side of Patricia Bay Highway is a bus stop for the #72 bus. As well as no safe, protected pedestrian walkway to either of these stops, the ground at each stop is often a wet, uneven, pothole-covered surface.  Anyone with any mobility concerns, including those using a mobility aid and adults with a young person in a stroller, would not be able to access these stops.

While it is important to have bus stops throughout a community, it is essential that the necessary pedestrian infrastructure is also provided.
