Our mission at the Sooke Region Communities Health Network (SRCHN) is to build thriving communities in our region.

In addition to programming for seniors and others in our community, SRCHN is working on two major projects: building the Sooke Gathering Place for seniors, including an activity centre and other services that help seniors to age in place, more independently; and establishing a community health centre (CHC), with urgent and primary care access on evenings and weekends.  A CHC in the Sooke region would provide new team-based health services and increase mental health services.

As we near the Oct. 19 provincial election, please speak to the candidates in our Juan de Fuca-Malahat riding. Ask them how they plan to improve access to health care, including mental health services, in the Sooke region.  Ask them also about how their parties will address the needs of seniors and other vulnerable persons in our community. Please share your hopes and dreams for improved health in the Sooke region and, finally, thank you in advance for voting!

Annemieke Holthuis, president
